Seamus Ross
In January 2009, the Faculty of Information welcomed Seamus Ross, who began his seven-year term as Dean. Prof. Ross is best described as having a passion for research in the areas of preserving cultural heritage and scientific digital objects, humanities informatics, and the application of information technology to libraries, archives and museums. From 1997, he was Founding Director of the Humanities Advanced Technology and Information Institute (HATII), at the University of Glasgow, and Professor of Humanities Informatics and Digital Curation. Since 2004, Prof. Ross had also been the Associate Director of the United Kingdom’s Digital Curation Centre. Prof. Ross earned his BA from Vassar College, his MA from the University of Pennsylvania, and his DPhil from the University of Oxford.
