This first workshop in a new digital media consortium was held for the "Designing Digital Media for the Internet of Things (DDiMIT)" on Friday, Nov. 20, called the Tweeting Infrastructure Making for the Basic Internet of Things (TIMBITs).

Cataloguing & Classification Quarterly Dedicates Issue to Prof. Nancy Williamson

Faculty of Information Professor Emerita, Nancy Williamson, is being honoured in the latest edition of Cataloguing & Classification Quarterly: Volume 48 Issue 1. Known as a Festschrift, the book honors a respected person, usually an academic, and is presented during his or her lifetime.

FIAA Conference Grants Available to MISt/MI Students (deadline: January 15, 2010)

Each year, the Faculty of Information Alumni Association (FIAA) offers up to ten MISt/MI students grants up to a maximum of $500 to attend conferences in North America. The Alumni Conference Grants are to be used to subsidize the cost of attending the conference. Launched in 2007, the grants allow MISt/MI students to:

• Present a paper or poster session, or
• Participate as a speaker or panellist

Cheryl Meszaros Memorial Celebration Fitting Tribute

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us or sent sympathies for Dr. Cheryl Meszaros, at her Memorial Celebration held in her honour by the Faculty of Information on November 23, 2009.

Colleagues, staff, family, friends and students gathered to pay respect and celebrate the life and career of Dr. Meszaros, who tragically passed away this summer after a brief illness.

Alumnus John Papadopoulos (MISt '97) Lands Top Law Library Job

A Master of Information Studies (1997) graduate from the Faculty of Information, and one of our adjunct instructors, has landed the Chief Librarian position at the University of Toronto's Bora Laskin Law Library.

Congratulations to November iSchool Graduates

Half of the approximately 40 graduates of the iSchool participated in Convocation celebrations at Simcoe Hall on November 13, 2009.

"It was a beautiful fall day -- the perfect setting for a special ceremony like this one," said Dean Seamus Ross. "It was wonderful seeing all the smiling faces in the procession."
