Half of the approximately 40 graduates of the iSchool participated in Convocation celebrations at Simcoe Hall on November 13, 2009.
"It was a beautiful fall day -- the perfect setting for a special ceremony like this one," said Dean Seamus Ross. "It was wonderful seeing all the smiling faces in the procession."

Team Chaos have struck again! We are delighted to announce the third Team Digital Preservation adventure, “Team Digital Preservation and the Deadly Cryptic Conundrum,” is now ready for viewing. But do not fear, Team Digital Preservation are on hand, in what could be their funniest adventure yet.
Jill Ruby, a 2007 graduate of the Faculty of Information, is in South Africa to participate in a year-long internship at the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg.

This year's issue of Informed, now an electronic magazine, is ready. The Faculty decided to try and save paper and ink, taking into consideration the cost of printing and the impact mass production would have on the environment.
Informed is an annual alumni magazine for graduates of the Faculty of Information. Though many in the Information field may find it useful to hear the latest news on the iSchool.
Through this magazine, alumni and friends can stay connected with us and find out what is happening in our wider community and as well as with classmates.

Jutta Treviranus and Professor Stephen Hockema had their paper, “The Value of the Unpopular: Conteracting the Popularity Echo-Chamber on the Web,” selected from more than 700 entries as one of the three best papers at the prestigious 2009 IEEE Toronto International Conference -- Science and Technology for Humanity on September 27, 2009.
Toronto iSchool Dean, Prof. Seamus Ross, is delighted that Dr. Elizabeth Shepherd from University College London (UCL) has accepted the Faculty's invitation to take up the post of Visiting Professor for the fall of 2009.
Dr. Shepherd is teaching INF2174 History of Records and Record Keeping and INF2197 Special Topics in Information: Digital Record Keeping Standards.
As a Faculty that prides itself on being on top of technical innovation, updates were needed in the Karen Melville Electronic Classroom, also known as Lab 116. The classroom was founded by Karen Melville, former Director of the Professional Learning Centre (PLC). When she retired in 2004, it was named in her honour.
Congratulations to Margaret Lam upon receiving the SIG USE Masters Student Travel Award. The $500 grant will assist her in traveling to Vancouver to attend the 2009 ASIS&T Conference and participating in the SIG USE Symposium.
