Archives Assistant
Part-time (4 days/30 hours per week)
May 14 to August 31, 2012 (Term Position)
Salary: Starting at $18.001 per hour

Health Sciences Centre (“HSC”) Winnipeg is seeking a qualified and motivated summer student to fill an Archives Assistant position within the HSC Archives/Museum.

Working under the direction of the HSC Archivist, the Archives Assistant will appraise, accession, arrange and describe records and photographs using Rules for Archival Description (RAD) and ICA-AtoM. Other duties may include processing transfers and donations, providing research and support for heritage-related projects, and answering reference questions.

Qualifications: 

Qualifications: The candidate will be enrolled in a recognized Archives Technician or relevant undergraduate University degree program, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate will have excellent command of the English language (both oral and written), have strong organizational, communications and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work accurately and independently. Working knowledge of database systems preferred. Experience working in an archival setting and in arrangement and description of archival collections preferred.
