Education and Outreach Librarian for e-Learning and Emerging Technologies
Reporting to the Head of Education and Outreach, the Librarian for e-Learning and Emerging Technologies leads the development and implementation of virtual and in-person learning for new electronic resources and technology that support and enhance the teaching, learning, and research activities of the University. The Librarian participates in instruction activities by investigating resources, assessing use and effectiveness, and developing promotion strategies. The Librarian also manages the Libraries’ Digital Media Lab and supervises two FTE to support and facilitate the use of new media and relevant technology; works with the Director of Access, Information & Research Services, and the Head of E&O to develop and implement the strategic agenda for the Libraries Information/Learning Commons; works to integrate and facilitate campus-wide video activities in collaboration with relevant personnel; develops assessment strategies, maintains statistics, and creates statistical reports; collaborates with the University’s academic technology program and its Chief Academic Technology Officer, as well as the Center for Computational Science and the Instructional Advancement Center; works closely with the Libraries’ Digital Programs and Scholarship unit, and the Web and Emerging Technology unit; maintains awareness of and responds to the e-Learning and emerging technology needs of the University community; keeps abreast of relevant literature and research, and investigates current standards, emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in electronic resources and tools, new media, academic and instructional technology, and scholarly communication; communicates effectively and works collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrators, and students; and operates effectively in a multifaceted, dynamic, and diverse academic environment.
Master’s degree from an ALA accredited program or foreign equivalent. Undergraduate major or advanced degree in education, instructional technology, instructional design, or computer science and information systems or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, and/or management of online educational services in an academic or research library; using visual resources, web and multimedia technologies, including online course management systems, presentation tools, and media production tools; commitment to user-centered library service and the ability to work individually and in teams in a changing and fast-paced environment with a culturally diverse population. Work collaboratively and effectively with staff, faculty, University administration and a culturally diverse population. Assist and instruct faculty, students, and staff in specialized resources; positively represent and promote the interests of the Libraries. Demonstrated effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; excellent organizational and time management skills.
Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a non-tenure track faculty appointment at the Librarian Assistant/Associate Professor rank.
