Description and duties: 

The Toronto Botanical Garden’s Weston Family Library is seeking a part-time Library Systems Support Assistant. Working with the Head Librarian, the Library Systems Support Assistant will help implement a new open source integrated library system (Koha), and assist with the migration of data from the existing catalogue (InMagic DB/Textworks). Essentially, this position will involve assisting with the configuration of the Library system's parameters: OPAC design, structuring incoming MARC records from the existing ILS, building the circulation module, serials management processes, and patron records.

Qualifications: 

- Experienced with, or have completed coursework related to traditional cataloguing, integrated library systems, data migration
- Strong understanding of MARC records and AACR2
- Interest in working with open source software, specifically Koha (http://koha-community.org/)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel

The Weston Family Library houses a specialized collection of resources in the areas of horticulture, gardening, ecology, and landscape design. The collection maintains over 400 children’s books, 600 reference materials, 60 active periodical subscriptions, and over 9,000 items in the main collection. The Library serves the general public, but only members of the Toronto Botanical Garden are eligible for borrowing privileges. The TBG is a friendly and enthusiastic environment offering a number of programs, events, and classes for people of all ages.
