Student Archives Assistant
An Archives Assistant is required to appraise, arrange, preserve and describe collections of
archival records at the Region of Waterloo Archives. Create a temporary exhibit featuring these records. Work frequently requires
intense mental concentration, heavy visual concentration, and manual dexterity. Periodically bends, stoops or reaches when
retrieving records. Must be able to lift boxes weighing approx. 20 Kgs.
Candidates should have an interest in history, heritage, archival
studies or regional government, normally acquired through the completion of a University program in Archival Studies,
Conservation, Information Studies, or Library Science. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills,
interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently following established procedures. Knowledge of archival practice is an
asset. Skill in the operation of a computer, using such software as Word, Excel, Outlook, and an electronic document management
system. Candidates must have a strong attention to detail. Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
$14.38 - $17.97 per hour - 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday
To be considered for employment as a student, a person must be registered as a full-time secondary or postsecondary
student in an accredited institution; currently recognized as having full-time status by the academic institution; and
returning to full-time studies in the next academic term.
