Laura Jantek was a librarian for over 30 years prior to her joining the Faculty of Information as  Admissions Officer. She is a graduate of Douglass College (B.A.) and Rutgers University (M.L.S.). Most recently, she was Virtual Librarian at Halifax Public Libraries with responsibility for public technology, web management,  and information resources. In Halifax, she worked extensively with the Community Access Program, was a founding member of the "freenet" in the Halifax area and served on a number of volunteer boards. Her other work experiences have included university libraries, Standard Oil Company of California and UTLAS. At present, Laura is interested in recruitment, bibliographic management theory, and information seeking behaviours as well as being a fan of the ballet, a locavore, and an avid knitter [will give knitting help!]. She has recently returned to riding and hopes to learn dressage. As a member of Student Services, Laura works with recruitment activities, incoming students, as well as convocations.  She job shares with Tracy Solomon, Admissions Officer.
